Managing your Neck and Back pain.

Neck, shoulder and back pain can affect every aspect of your life.
Getting comfortable in bed, waking with pain, work, sport, exercise, family life...

The FIRST thing to do is get it assessed, so that your Therapist can;
  1. Diagnose the problem (which may help you to remove the cause from your life!),
  2. Give you some much needed treatment (soft tissue work, trigger point therapy, mobilisations, positional release etc....),
  3. Prescribe exercises that are suitable to you, your life, your work and your injury/condition.

After this, there ARE ways that you can manage your pain yourself!

These include;
1. Regularly stretching...

2. Regularly applying heat/ice (as recommended by your Therapist)...

3. Avoid sitting for long periods of time - get active!

4. Listen to your body & have regular maintenance massages/follow ups with your Therapist!

This can help to make sure that the problem doesn't return or worsen.

I find it interesting to learn that a physical therapist can determine the root cause of your neck, shoulder, or knee pain. My brother plans to join a marathon this year, but recently he's experiencing this dull pain on his heels. I'll recommend that he visit a therapist for advice on what to do next before his big day.
